AT-XP® Fast-Curing Anchoring Adhesive for Cracked and Uncracked Concrete

The latest innovation from Simpson Strong-Tie, AT-XP® anchoring adhesive has been formulated for high-strength anchorage of threaded rod and rebar into concrete under a wide range of conditions. AT-XP adhesive dispenses easily in cold or warm environments with little to no odor, and when mixed properly is a teal color for easy post-installation identification.

Code-listed per IAPMO UES ER-263 in accordance with ICC-ES AC308 and IBC 2009 requirements for cracked and uncracked concrete in static or seismic conditions, AT-XP anchoring adhesive has demonstrated superior performance in reduced-temperature testing (14°F (-10°C)), has NSF/ Standard 61 certification (43.2 in2/1000 gal), and is made in the USA.

INSTALLATION

When the concrete temperature is at or below freezing, ensure any holes drilled in advance are free of frost or ice.

SHELF LIFE

·         12 months from date of manufacture in unopened cartridge.

STORAGE CONDITIONS

·         For best results store between 32°F–80°F (0°C– 27°C). Partially used cartridges can be stored for a limited time by leaving nozzle in place. To re-use, attach new nozzle.

COLOR

·         Resin — black-green, initiator — white

·         When properly mixed, adhesive will be a uniform teal color.

CLEAN UP

·         Uncured material — Wipe up with cotton cloths. If desired, approved solvents, such as ketones (MEK, acetone, etc.), lacquer thinner, or adhesive remover can be used. DO NOT USE SOLVENTS TO CLEAN ADHESIVE FROM SKIN. Take appropriate precautions when handling flammable solvents. Solvents may damage surfaces to which they are applied. Cured material — Chip or grind off surface.

·         Under the ASTM C 881 test method, 3.5 minutes for a 60g mass at 73°F (23°C)

3.       Use only Simpson Strong-Tie® mixing nozzle in accordance with Simpson Strong-Tie instructions. Modification or improper use of mixing nozzle may impair AT-XP adhesive performance.

4.       One AMN19Q nozzle and one nozzle extension is supplied with each cartridge.

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE

Very good to excellent against distilled water and inorganic acids. Fair to good against organic acids and alkalis, inorganic alkalis and many organic solvents. Poor against ketones. For more detailed information, contact Simpson Strong-Tie or see Technical Bulletin T-A-CHEMRES14 .

SUGGESTED SPECIFICATIONS

Anchoring adhesive shall be a two-component, high-solids, acrylic-based system supplied in manufacturer's standard cartridge and dispensed through a static-mixing nozzle supplied by the manufacturer. The adhesive anchor shall have been tested and qualified for performance in cracked and uncracked concrete per ICC-ES AC308. Adhesive shall be AT-XP® adhesive from Simpson Strong-Tie, Pleasanton, CA. Anchors shall be installed per Simpson Strong-Tie instructions for AT-XP adhesive. For additional questions, contact Simpson Strong-Tie.
